Live Baiting for KingfishReport Date: January 21, 2015A University of Michigan informal reunion spurred an afternoon booking on the Blue Waters 2. The guys just wanted some action and maybe one big fish. There was no current with a northeast wind so the crew started out trolling. There were some rips and weed lines 6 miles offshore, but no bait under the weeds, and no bites. The crew brought the boat back to the sea buoy and put out a spread of live baits. They were soon rewarded by a bite on a herring in the long rigger. The fish made a blistering run and put up quite a fight, but the angler prevailed, and one 30 pound kingfish was boated. The balance of the fishing trip saw a few small jacks were captured and released. Captain John Barker
