The Ones that did Not Get AwayReport Date: March 25, 2018Fishing this week has been active. Brian and his dad took the boat for a five hour, half-day trip in the morning. Live bait has been hard to find, so Captain John reserved live bait from the bait boat. Loading the well, John went straight out to the sea buoy and the mate fired out the kite and live baits in the riggers. Almost immediately, the long kite herring got nervous and a sailfish attacked it. The customer picked up the rod and starting winding and the fight was on. After some fabulous jumps and runs, the fish came in for a fast tag and picture and was released. Then, a 30 pound kingfish attacked the only live bait out with a mono leader and sky rocketed but bite right thru the mono leader. The guys did manage to hook and capture three nice sized kings so the morning was declared a success.
