West Wind Finds Mackerel on Reef
Report Date: October 15, 2015
Some fun loving New Yorkers chartered the Blue Waters 2 for an early morning fishing trip. Their request was action. Captain John read the west wind as not a good wind for offshore fishing. So after catching live bait at the stantion, the crew put out the trolling spread and started down the edge of the second reef. Their effort was rewarded when the kingfish and mackerel bite started. They had fish on the top lures as well as the planners.
Pretty soon the limit on kingfish was reached so the last hour of the trip was spent with live baits out on the slow troll. The current had stopped so the bites were very slow. Happy with their catch the group headed for the dock for pictures and lunch.
