Live Baiting off Miami Proves ProductiveReport Date: May 9, 2013This morning we had a Bachelor Party fishing trip. We ran straight out to the monument buoy as recent trips and morning reports had the bait scarce at other closer spots. Soon after we arrived at the buoy, the guys made quick work of filling our live wells with herring and blue runners. Once the well was blacked out, we charged offshore and found a clear edge in 140 feet. Out went the live bait spread on the riggers and kite. It seemed like only moments before the first strikes came in tandem – a double header kingfish bite and hookup. After a few exciting, drag screaming runs, it didn't take long to bring the king mackerel boatside. The action continued all morning with a large mutton snapper pulled of the bottom. Later, a school of dolphin (mahi-mahi) provided action for a few minutes. The remainder of the morning also saw a few more kingfish come over the rail. The guys had a great time and the fishing was good.
